TOUR REGISTRATION | EMERGING HUMANITY FLYER AND NEWSLETTER

From December 1 - 12, 2009, join staff and other volunteers at Emerging Humanity (Emerge) in Kisumu, Kenya. This memorable and meaningful pilot volunteer trip is limited to seven participants. The trip includes a variety of service experiences including painting the inside of classrooms, taking local children on field trips to the wildlife sanctuaries, and planting trees and gardening.

Among its past projects, Emerging Humanity has:
  • Constructed a sanitation system for a school
  • Installed 16,000 liters worth of rain-water catchment systems for schools with no access to water
  • Renovated five nursery schools
  • Built two playgrounds
  • Planted over 2,000 trees
  • Taught art classes to over 400 children
  • Founded Bustani Farm to help troubled youth under the age of 25 find jobs and a brighter future
Opportunities abound to talk with youth and local residents, to see traditional dances and crafts and sample different cuisines of the region.

Nakuru National Park is a bird watchers paradise and offers viewing of flamingo, 450 species of birds and 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino, giraffes, leopards, and lions.

Your package includes:
  • Air travel roundtrip from Nairobi/Kisumu
  • 10 nights accommodation at the Imperial Hotel (single with half board)
  • 12 days transport to sites
  • Entrance fee to Lake Nakuru
  • One night accommodation in the park at Savora Lion Hill lodge or comparable with full Board
  • Emerge project donation
  • T-shirt
TOTAL PACKAGE - $3200.00

Options: Dinners will be enjoyed for nine nights at different restaurants in Kisumu and range from $10-$12 a meal. Kisumu is a city of 500,000 people. The city is located on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Double rooms are available as well as upgrades.

Volunteers should plan their trip to arrive in Kisumu on December 1st. Departure from Kisumu on the 12th. If arriving in Nairobi in the evening, pickup from the airport and transfer to a local hotel will be arranged. An additional day in Karen offers an opportunity to see the Karen Blixen Colonial Farm, the Giraffe Center and the Nairobi National Park. Although not included in the volunteer travel package, let us know so that we offer information on extra day options.

$100 deposit required with registration. Half payment is due 90 days before start of tour. Final payment due 60 days before tour begins.
