This custom designed study tour and volunteer service project allows you to experience a world of diversity through the multiple perspectives of Hawaii’s people. Featured is an interactive, intergenerational exploration of historical, cultural, socio-economic, age, and religious differences that create a rich heritage for future generations and the sustainability of our islands.

To create a caring environment out of such rich diversity, we begin with nurturing ourselves.
  • See how diversity can mean strength and that tolerance does lead to harmony
  • Attend two hour-long seminars on diversity and peace taught by leading educators and conflict resolution specialists in Hawaii
  • Work in service projects and visit sites that will take you from Honolulu’s Chinatown to Pearl Harbor, from scenic rural O`ahu to urban housing projects and from the oldest Catholic Cathedral west or the Rockies to the Buddhist temple of Kuan Yin
  • Join local practitioners who will share a wealth of knowledge and techniques from across cultures that incorporate breathing, movement, nutrition and meditation
Director: Mae Mendelson, Ph.D. Professor of Intergenerational Studies, in Residence, Chaminade University of Honolulu.
