| GRANDPARENT CAMP AT CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY CAMP REGISTRATION | ONLINE PAYMENTS Caring for ourselves, our animals, our planet A day program for grandparents and grandchildren (8-12). Program runs on three Mondays in June – 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Participants will meet at Chaminade University each morning and travel to various locations for field trips. Bring a sack lunch. One of the days will include a service project. Program will include activities and information that contribute to child and older adult wellness. Examples include age appropriate physical activities, brain fitness and nutrition information. NOTE: This program is limited to 10 families. COST: $135.00 for full program. This fee includes on campus program, two field trips, transportation, materials and drinks OR $50.00 per day for one adult and one child, $10.00 for each additional child/adult. PROGRAM SITES Program sites will be based on availability and could include: Honolulu Zoo – Environment Enrichment Program Learn how the Environment Enrichment Program is becoming part of daily animal care, feeding and cleaning. The Environment Enrichment Program helps the zoo to maintain the highest standards of animal welfare so that animals are healthy, active and exhibit a wide diversity of behaviors. Therapeutic Horsemanship Equestrian Center This program helps to improve the physical and mental abilities of people with handicaps. You will learn how grooming and riding horses can help disabled children lead fuller lives. Optional horseback ride is available. My Gal Sal’s Miniature Horses and Goats This site features Magic the miniature horse. Magic is certified as a care animal and has been filmed by BBC...yes!...the British Broadcasting Company! BBC, did a day long documentary on Magic- both saddle riding kids, driving the cart, and at Kailua Beach -for the #1 children's program in Europe. Magic may also be shown on Animal Planet in spring 2010. Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology Docent-led tour of research facilities on Coconut Island, sharing with the people of Hawai‘i some of the exciting and important research going on so close to home. Beach clean up with the Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii (BEACH) Director: Mae Mendelson, Ph.D. Professor of Intergenerational Studies, in Residence, Chaminade University of Honolulu. COST: Fee: $50 for one adult and one child. Each additional child - $10.00 Full Program: $135.00 Additional dorm nights are possible.
